How the math works

- 02A typical rate is about 2.4 screws per square foot for 5.5in boards at 16in O.C. (two per joist crossing).

Common questions
How many screws per square foot for decking?
Roughly 2.4 per square foot with 5.5in boards on 16in centers. Drop to about 1.8 at 24in O.C., or double it if you face-screw a picture frame border.
What about hidden fasteners?
Hidden clip systems are sold per square foot by the manufacturer — enter the clip rate in place of screws per square foot and the box count as clips per bucket.
